Although both options would improve hospital services, I strongly believe that expanding the emergency department would be the wiser investment because it would significantly reduce waiting times and save more lives.
One of the main reasons I prefer this option is that expanding the emergency department would significantly reduce waiting times. Every day, hospitals receive patients suffering from broken bones, heart attacks, strokes, and other medical emergencies that require immediate attention. Last year, I fractured my wrist after slipping on a wet sidewalk and had to wait for nearly eight hours before receiving treatment. Hiring additional doctors and nurses, along with opening more treatment rooms, would allow hospitals to assist patients more efficiently. In contrast, a larger cafeteria would provide greater comfort but would not improve emergency care.
Another significant reason I support Option A is that it has the potential to save more lives. Patients suffering from heart attacks, strokes, or serious accidents often require immediate treatment, and every minute can make a significant difference. Having sufficient medical staff and treatment rooms would allow life-saving procedures to begin without unnecessary delays. It would also give families greater peace of mind knowing that their loved ones are receiving prompt medical attention.
Overall, Option A is clearly the more essential, compassionate, and community-focused choice. Although a larger cafeteria would improve visitors' comfort, expanding the emergency department would reduce waiting times, save more lives, and provide greater reassurance to patients and their families.
