Before You Begin
Good punctuation makes your writing clear and easy to read. In IELTS and CELPIP, punctuation supports your Grammar score and improves the overall presentation of your letter or essay.
Remember these rules:
✅ Put a comma (,) after introductory words or phrases.
•However,
•Therefore,
•Unfortunately,
•In my opinion,
•For example,
✅ Put a comma (,) after a dependent clause.
•Although I was tired, I completed the task.
•If possible, please reply by Friday.
✅ Use a question mark (?) for direct questions.
•Could you please help me?
✅ Use a full stop (.) to end a complete sentence.
•Thank you for your assistance.
✅ Use commas to separate items in a list.
•I bought milk, bread, eggs, and butter.
✅ In letters:
•Dear Sir,
•Yours sincerely,
